Should I shop with Currys PC World?
It may be offering some decent Black Friday deals, but a new investigation by Which? suggests you should factor in Currys PC World’s poor customer service record before committing to a purchase.
The findings echo a separate Which? survey*, in which people who’d recently bought home appliances from Currys gave it just two stars out of five for aftersales and returns. Those who’d bought tech gave it a slightly higher three stars on this measure.

Exclusive to Currys PC World
We liked Crisp 4K, easy to use
We didn’t like Voice search doesn’t always come back with ideal results
This 55-inch OLED CX is exclusive to Currys PC World – with the market-wide model (OLED55CX5LB) having a different coloured stand. This model has been at £1,399 for quite a while – so while it’s still a great deal, it’s only a £100 discount from the price it’s actually been over the past month. It’s easy to use, but does its picture and sound quality score the maximum five stars in our tough tests?

If you’re after a top-tier 4K screen that doesn’t cost an arm and leg, then this offering from LG may be worth considering. This is the lowest price we’ve seen this model at, so you’re getting a great deal. But can this bargain give you everything you want from a new TV?

Same price at Google, John Lewis & Partners, Argos
We like: Accurate motion detection, easy to use
We don’t like: Subscription required to get full functionality
We’ve seen the Nest Hello at £200 before, but this Black Friday deal is still a further £50 off. Be aware, if you want to store videos you’ll need to sign up to the Nest Aware subscription service – but if this isn’t a deal breaker definitely check this one out.

Ring Door View Cam – was £119, now £74 (38% off according to the retailer)
We like: Easy to install in existing door peep hole
We don’t like: Subscription required to store videos
With other retailers currently stocking this at £79, your can save a further £5 on this Black Friday deal. This is quite an unusual product. The View Cam works with the door’s existing peep hole. It consists of a slim camera unit that goes on the outside of your door, with a long thin tube threading down the peep hole and fixing to the power unit attached to the inside of the door.

ASUS Zenbook UX325JA – was £1,299, now £1,099 (15% off according to the retailer)
Same price at Amazon
We liked Battery life, size and weight
We didn’t like Mediocre speakers
We tested a lower-spec model – i5 processor with 512GB SSD storage – and found it to be speedy at opening programmes and webpages. This should only improve with the faster i7 processor and the 1TB SSD storage. This is a decent discount on a laptop with lots of good features, but is this laptop’s keyboard easy and ergonomic?

We tested a lower-spec model – i5 processor with 256GB SSD storage – and found it to be speedy at common day-to-day tasks. This should only improve with the faster i7 processor. Currys PC World Black Friday vacuum deals
Dyson V8 Absolute Extra – was £399, now £299 (25% off according to the retailer)
Same price at John Lewis & Partners
We like: Dust ejector bin
We don’t like: Short battery life on turbo
The Dyson V8 Absolute is usually around £350 – not £399 – but this is usually as cheap as this vacuum goes. This model at Currys comes with an additional hard floor and motorised tool.
If you fancy something unique, Dyson is selling an exclusive V8 Absolute Pro variant that has a black cleaning tube and two additional tools beyond the extra version.

Shark Anti Hair Wrap with Flexology and TruePet IZ251UKTDB – was £549, now £349 (36% off according to the retailer)
We liked Great at cleaning hardwood floors, three batteries
We didn’t like Weaker on low power settings
While we’ve seen this product on sale at £349 before, it’s typically on sale at £499 – meaning this is still a great deal. This model comes with three batteries, which is pretty rare. When you consider a vacuum battery can typically cost around £80 – this deal is even more attractive.
There are variants of this vacuum at other retailers that are cheaper – due to coming with fewer batteries. If you’re not fussed by this deal, take a look at our Black Friday Dyson and Shark deals for more great cordless vacuum deals.

Hotpoint NSWR 943C washing machine – was £339.99, now £249 (27% off according to the retailer)
We liked Spin removes lots of water
We didn’t like Uses a lot of water
We saw this washing machine available at £269 in October, but you’re still £20 better off with this Currys PC World Black Friday Deal. It’s maximum load for synthetics is 4.5kg, so it should cope well with the family laundry. But are the washing programs fast enough for you?

Samsung WW90T554DAW washing machine – was £569.99, now £519 (9% off according to the retailer)
We liked Remote control via app, AddWash door
We didn’t like Uses a lot of water
This discount may be smaller than other washing machines you may see on Black Friday, but this model lots of useful extra features. You can control it via an app from your phone, so you should definitely be considering this washing machine if you want to enter the smart home market. It may have some fancy features, but how good is it at actually cleaning your laundry?

We liked Very efficient
We didn’t like Storage features a little frustrating
With Christmas around the corner, you may be looking for a larger fridge freezer to store the turkey and all the trimmings. This 617L American-style Samsung model can easily fit all your fresh food. But are all the extra features worth your money and is it any good at chilling your food quickly?

Currys PC World Black Friday deals to avoid
Sony KD-43XH8196BU Television – was £699, now £599 (14% off according to the retailer)
This 43 inch TV is currently £599 at multiple retailers – including Amazon, John Lewis and Argos. We’ve seen this for £649 at other retailers through October, so you’re only saving £50. Our expert Which? lab tests found the picture to be mediocre overall, with unbalanced colours and poor sound. For £599, there are better alternatives out here.
Take a look at our full Sony KD-43XH8196BU review to find out more, or take a look at our TV reviews to find one that suits you.
Marshall Major III Bluetooth Headphones – was £129, now £49 (62% off according to the retailer)
This huge discount may be jumping off the page, but it’s not uncommon to find the Major III headphones for less than £129 throughout the year. In addition, our expert Which? lab tests show the sound quality make this set of headphones one to avoid.
Take a look at our full Marshall Major III headphones review to find out more, or take a look at our headphone reviews to find a pair that suits you.
JBL Tune 120TWS Wireless Earphones – was £89.99, now £44.99 (50% off according to the retailer)
Half price looks great, but our extensive audio tests found that the sound from these earphones to be thin and lacking depth. Add to this a battery life that’s shorter compared with its rivals, we think you can pick up better alternatives for a similar price, so see our pick of the best headphones.
Take a look at our full JBL Tune 120TWS review
JBL Tune 220TWS Wireless Earphones – was £99.99, now £49.99 (50% off according to the retailer)
Again, 50% off is great on paper, but we think that you can find a better set of wireless earphones. Our expert lab tests found them difficult for some to get a comfortable fit and the battery life is extremely poor compared with other wireless earphones. This sounds wasn’t very impressive, either.
Take a look at our full JBL Tune 220TWS review
Skullcandy Push Ultra Wireless Sports Earphones – was £119.99, now £99 (17% off according to the retailer)
Our Which? lab tests found the sound quality of these headphones to be lacking and they were difficult to set up. For nearly £100, there are better headphones at this price point.
Take a look at our full Skullcandy Push Ultra review
LG SL8YG Sound Bar – was £579, now £449 (22% off according to the retailer)
We have found this sound bar available at other retailers for £449 since August, and it’s currently priced at £399 at Richer sounds. While you can find a better deal elsewhere, we still wouldn’t recommend buying this set. We believe you can get a better sound bar for a similar price – see our sound bar reviews.
