A batch of Aptamil baby cereal is being recalled as it may contain small pieces of blue plastic, making it unsafe to eat.
The recall, issued by Nutricia, affects one batch of Aptamil Multigrain Banana & Berry Cereal (7+ months). Some packs from this batch may contain small pieces of blue plastic, which is used as part of the packaging.

Which Aptamil baby cereal batches are being recalled?
This recall covers 200g packs of Aptamil Multigrain Banana & Berry cereal (7+ months).
The best before dates on these packs will be listed as ’07 July 2021′. You can find the best before date underneath the bar code, on the back of the cereal pack.
It’s worth noting that no other batches of Aptamil cereal, or other Aptamil products, have been identified as a safety risk.
What to do if you’ve bought Aptamil Multigrain Banana and Berry Cereal
If the baby food you’ve purchased is recalled, then don’t attempt to feed it to your baby. Nutricia says you should return the product to the store you bought it from to receive a full refund. You won’t need a receipt.
You can also phone the Aptamil careline number, which is open 24/7, on 0800 996 1000. Alternatively, you can contact Aptamil online.
If you’ve already fed your baby some food from one of the packs, Nutricia reports that it’s ‘very likely’ your pack was not affected.
A statement from the company says: ‘If you have fed your baby from one of the packs without noticing any pieces [of plastic], it’s very likely that your pack was not affected. No other batches of this product or any other Aptamil products are affected.’
Nutricia has issued an apology, saying that the affected products do not meet the brand’s ‘usual high-quality standards’. It has also said that point of sale notices will be displayed in all shops that have sold this product.
