Apple Car has been running wild in the rumor mill for years now and while we're still years away from a potential launch, new details keep pouring in. According to the latest, Apple will work with Hyundai on its first Apple Car model, and possibly, the company will move to work with General Motors and European manufacturer PSA for future models in new markets. In addition to this, analysts also stated that Apple will use Hyundai's E-GMP battery platform in its electric vehicle. Let's dive in to see some more details on the subject.

Apple Car Will Use Hyundai's E-GMP Battery Electric Platform - Will Be Classified as 'Very High-End" Model

The news comes from TF Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors) who in his research notes corroborated that Apple will potentially partner with Hyundai for its Apple Car project. Moreover, the electric vehicle will be based on Hyundai's E-GMP battery platform. E-GMP uses up to two motors, five-link rear suspension, battery cells with a range of 500km, integrated axle, and can be charged up to 80 percent in just 18 minutes through fast charging.

In addition to this, an E-GMP with high performance features the ability to accelerate from o-60 in just 3.5 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 160 miles per hour. By 2025, Hyundai speculates to sell a million BEV units across the globe.

Apple's deep collaboration with current automakers (Hyundai Group, GM, and PSA) who have extensive development, production, and qualification experience will significantly shorten the ‌Apple Car‌ development time and create a time-to- market advantage. We believe that Apple will leverage current automakers' resources and focus on self-driving hardware and software, semiconductors, battery-related technologies, form factor and internal space designs, innovative user experience, and the integration with Apple’s existing ecosystem.

Kuo anticipates that most of Apple Car's components and design will be handed over to Hyundai Mobis. In addition to this, Kia - Hyundai Group's affiliate will provide a production line in the United States. However, as for the launch, Kuo predicts that 2025 might not be the year for the vehicle to see daylight due to development and supply chain management complications.

Apple will market its first Apple Car model as a premium or a "very high-end" model or comparatively higher than the standard electric vehicles. Kuo also speculates that Foxconn will not take part in the assembly or casing orders for the Apple Car. Take note that the news is based on speculations and reports, so do take the news with a pinch of salt.
