Food recall: batch of Lidl pork mince may contain pieces of plastic

A batch of Birchwood XXL pork mince is being recalled by Lidl as it may contain small pieces of plastic, making it unsafe to eat.

The recall affects one batch of Birchwood XXL pork mince (12% fat). Some packs from this batch may contain small pieces of plastic.

What pork products are affected?

This recall covers 1kg packs of Birchwood XXL pork mince (12% fat).

The best before date on these packs will be listed as ’13 FEB′. You can find the best before date on the front of the pack.

No other batches of Birchwood pork mince have been identified as a safety risk.

What to do if you’ve bought Lidl XXL Birchwood pork mince

If you’ve purchased an affected pack of Birchwood pork mince, you’re strongly advised not to eat it.

Instead, if you are already making an essential trip to a Lidl GB store, you can return the item for a full refund, with or without the receipt.

Alternatively, you can dispose of the product at home and email customer services (customer.services@lidl.co.uk) a photo of the product showing the best before date. The customer services team will then process a refund via letter.

What are my rights if there’s a food recall?

  • If you’ve bought a product that’s ben recalled, you have the right to a refund thanks to the Consumer Rights Act.
