Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak is set to deliver the UK Budget for 2021 at around 12:30pm this afternoon.
This will be the first Budget in nearly a year, after the planned Autumn Budget was cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

What to expect from the Budget
The Treasury has already confirmed a number of today’s planned announcements. These include:
- 95% mortgage support: addressing the fact that 95% mortgages have all but dried up since the coronavirus crisis hit, it’s been confirmed that the Treasury will underwrite 95% mortgages on properties with a value of up to £600,000.
- New ‘green’ NS&I savings account: an opportunity to invest in the UK’s green recovery. Find out more here.
- Continued coronavirus support: for high street shops, hospitality and other hard-hit industries.
In an unusual move, the Chancellor has released a promotional video ahead of this year’s Budget, looking at his year in post and hinting at what he may announce.
One year ago I was preparing for my first ever Budget.
A lot has happened since then, but the promises that underpin our plan remain unchanged.
