Mad mattress deals for March 2021

Don’t let a duff mattress ruin your sleep. If you’re putting up with a soft and saggy mattress, but the promise of Spring in the air has got you longing for a better night’s sleep, we’ve found great mattress deals for March.

If you didn’t take the plunge in January, take a look at the deals below on mattresses we’ve tested. We’ve rounded up mattress discounts that are still available from big brands and online retailers.

We test each mattress for front, side and back sleepers, and we also assess them for different body types. Plus, each mattress is put through tough durability tests, which replicate 10 years of use. And if you’re after a comfortable mattress, our unique survey of mattress owners will give you the lowdown on which ones they think are comfy, or not.

Scroll down for all the deals we’ve spotted that are still available.

The Emma Original mattressEmma Original mattress – 35% off, £421.85

Emma’s Original mattress is a delivered vacuum packed to your door, and it’s made up of layers of foam and memory foam. If you’re unsure about trying a foam mattress, then it comes with a 200-night trial. Despite being a memory foam mattress, this one didn’t feel especially warm in our tests.

Emma’s recent range of deals has gone up to 40% off, but at the moment you can still get 35% off the Emma Original mattress in the End of February sale, using code FEB35. This reduces the double mattress down to £421.85. This deal runs until the 8th March, which isn’t bad.

Will this mattress be the perfect one for you?

Simba Hybrid mattress – 26% off, £591.26

Simba’s Hybrid mattress features a zoned support base, mini pocket-spring layer and a foam topper. Our experts classed this as a medium-warm feel mattress, and Simba is also offering this bed-in-a-box mattress with a 200 night trial.

New customers buying either the Simba Hybrid or the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress can get 26% off with Simba’s current deal, available until Sunday 7th March, inclusive. We’ve seen a bigger discount in the recent Winter Sale, but it’s a tad better than the February 25% off deal we spotted.

Dormeo Octasmart Deluxe mattressDormeo Octasmart memory foam mattress – save up to 50%, £499.99

Usually nearer £900, the Dormeo Octasmart memory foam mattress currently has £400 off in Dormeo’s latest sale offering. This memory foam mattress, which Dormeo describes as ‘Deluxe’ combines a foam base, foam springs, a layer of different density foam topped with memory foam. Despite all the foam layers, it doesn’t feel too warm to lie on.

While the current discount on offer isn’t quite as big as the 60% we recently spotted during the Dormeo Winter sale, £400 off a mattress is a good deal. Especially if it equals better sleep.

Is this the case?

Silentnight Eco Comfort 1200Silentnight Sofia 1200 Mirapocket mattress – save up to 20%, £368.17

The Silentnight Sofia 1200 Mirapocket double mattress has been in the range for a while, and this affordable mattress can be found under several different names including the Classic 1200 Pocket Deluxe, Eco Comfort Pocket 1200 or the Walton 1200 Luxury double.

The January sale may have ended, but there’s still a sale going on at MattressOnline with up to 20% off selected mattresses until the 7th March, including this pocket sprung Sofia mattress. The cost, at the moment, is marginally cheaper than we found it on sale for in January. If you’re not a fan of sleeping on foam, this could be worth a look.

Will you have to compromise on comfort to get a bargain mattress?

Our Silentnight Classic 1200 Pocket Deluxe review reveals how comfortable owners find Silentnight mattresses.

Ikea Hamarvik – £129

This Ikea mattress may not be on a deal, but if you’re strapped for cash and your mattress budget can’t stretch to hundreds of pounds, this £129 bonnell spring mattress is a tempting proposition.

Unlike pocket springs, where each spring is sewn into individual fabric pockets, bonnell – or open coil – spring mattresses are made of single springs attached to one wire. Only one side of this mattress should be slept on, because on top of the spring core are several comfort layers, including 4cm of foam.

Will this budget mattress be supportive enough to give a good night’s sleep?

Double mattressMattress deals: do I need to buy now?

Not necessarily. If you need a new mattress now, then there are some good deals still around. However, the savings don’t appear to be quite as big as those found in the recent January sales.

And as we’ve seen, since the Black Friday sales, there have been a myriad of deals on offer – from Boxing days sales and January sales to Winter Sales and Valentine’s day deals, as well as other ad-hoc deals. Not all from the same brands, or retailers though.

Easter is just around the corner, too, and we usually see a flurry of mattress discounts and special offers as we approach the bank holiday.

The key is to research the mattress you want in advance, and then keep an eye out for a deal. If you don’t quite have the time to do this, don’t worry, we’ll be keeping an eye on them for you.

Buying a mattress online?

With bed shops shut and many of us buying mattresses online, rather than in store, we’ve pulled together some top tips for buying online:

  • Research When you buy online you’re protected by consumer law. But do your research first – read our mattress reviews and opt for a model that best fits your sleeping style. We have picks for front, side and back sleepers, people who fidget a lot, and those that tend to get too hot or cold.
  • Use trial nights offers Find out whether your chosen mattress has a trial period, how long this lasts and how you return it once the trial is up. Look for any hidden costs involved, and whether you have to return the mattresses back in the original packaging or not.
  • Know your rights If you change your mind, you’re entitled to a 14-day cooling-off period from the date you receive goods, meaning you can cancel your order at anytime from the moment you place your order up to 14 days from the date it arrives, and the seller is obliged to refund you. Do check any terms and conditions before you buy.
  • Measure up Measure your bed frame’s base, especially if you’ve had it for a while. Dimensions can vary, so don’t rely on a new double mattress being exactly the same size as your old one. It’s worth getting your tape measure out to avoid a troublesome error.

Prices correct at the time of writing. Prices and deals may change.
