A lot of people do not know this, but your iPhone has the ability to ‘correct’ eye contact if you are on a FaceTime call. Naturally, during a FaceTime call, you look at the other person on the display, rather than the camera, which means you are looking slightly away from the camera, making you look like as if you are looking somewhere else, at least according to the perspective of the other person.
In order to ‘fix’ this problem, Apple uses machine learning magic to change the position of your eyes, making it seem like as if you are directly looking at the contact, rather than slightly off. It is a genius method and one which is actually enabled by default too.

But, some people might find this feature a little… creepy. See, when you bring your iPhone too close to your face, then the eye contact feature might not work as great and may end up giving you bigger eyes than usual. In short, the feature sorta fails when you have the phone too close to your face or at a very odd angle.
In order to fix this issue, or if you do not want your iPhone to correct anything at all, then it is best that you go ahead and turn this feature off. Here is how you can do it in a few easy steps.

Step 1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone
Step 2. Scroll down and tap on FaceTime
Step 3. Scroll all the way down and you will see the Eye Contact toggle switch - turn it OFF, or leave it ON if you like
Step 4. Make a FaceTime call and confirm the changes
If you use FaceTime on a daily basis, then it is best to just leave the feature on. Unless you really dig deep into the details, only then you might notice that things are a little off. But given that millions of users have not quite noticed its imperfections, it is best to simply go with it.
