How to Add or Remove All Apps List in Start Menu on Windows 10 Computers

There is a feature in Windows 10 computers that allows you to view apps in the Start menu. This feature is enabled by default. The app list visible in the Start menu can be modified, and you can add or remove all apps list in the Start menu on Windows 10 computers. The process is straightforward, and I will show you how you can do it on your PCs in a step-by-step manner.

If you find this cluttered or if you don’t want to view app lists, you can disable it and get the Start menu to look like this:

There are three ways to modify this list. I will show you all three, and you can pick whichever you find easier.

Settings.

Step-1: Go to the Start Menu and click on the Settings cog. (Shortcut keys: Win + I)

Step-4: Turn the toggle Off for the Show app list in Start menu option.

This will disable the app list, and you will get a straightforward Start menu.
This is the Pinned Tiles view. You can still look at the app by clicking on the All apps button on the top right corner of the Start menu.

[If you want to get the app list back, in step-4, turn the toggle On.]

Local Group Policy Editor

This method is possible only for people with Windows 10 Pro versions. If you have a Windows 10 Home version, you cannot use the Local Group Policy Editor.

  1.  Open the Run box using the shortcut keys Win + R.
  2.  Type gpedit.msc in the type box and press Enter.
  3.  When the policy editor opens, enter this file location on the search bar at the top of the window: User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar
    [You can manually navigate it too using the left pane.]
  4.  Scroll down and double-click on Remove All Programs list from the Start menu.
  5.  If you don’t want to keep the App lists in the Start menu, select Enabled.
  6.  In the Options section, there is a drop-down menu for Choose one of the following actions. Select Collapse and disable setting.
  7.  Select Apply and then click OK.
  8.  Restart the system.

Remove All Apps List Using Registry Editor

Before using the registry editor, always create a system restore point as a precautionary measure. If you don’t know how to do this, click on this link and follow the tutorial. After that, you can follow the steps below:

Step-1: Open the Run box using the shortcut keys Win + R.

Step-2: Type regedit in the type box and press Enter.

Step-3: You will be asked, Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? Click Yes.

Step-4: Enter the following path in the search bar at the top of the window and press Enter:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

You can even use the left pane to navigate the path manually.

Step-5: On the right-pane, right-click on the blank space and hover the cursor on New. Select DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Step-6: Rename the key as NoStartMenuMorePrograms and press Enter.

Step-7: Now double-click this new entry.

Step-8: In the Value data field, type 1 and press OK. This will remove the app apps list from the Start Menu.

[If you don’t want to remove the apps, delete the new entry. Right-click on the Entry and press Delete. Then confirm your option.]

Step-9: Close the registry editor and restart your system.
