Clarington and Oshawa continue to drive the COVID-19 numbers in Durham Region this week, reporting 21 of the 29 new cases yesterday.
Clarington reported 11 new cases Tuesday and is also responsible for many of the 13 schools (down one) in Durham that reported outbreaks, and most of the 31 students (holding) who are home self-isolating.
Eighteen of the children isolating at home are from Enniskilling Public School in rural Clarington, which has reported 18 kids infected with the virus.
Oshawa reported 10 new cases. No other community in the region reported more than three.
There are 191 active cases (up from 183), with four people in hospital. There is one institutional outbreak and two workplace outbreaks.
The average daily new case count is now more than 26.5, the highest total in many weeks.
