The 3D animator must be able to meet the two main challenges of the job. On the one hand, like the 2D animator, he or she must be creative and have a keen artistic sense. The task of this image professional remains strongly linked to this aspect of visual creation. But the 3D animator must also master the computer tools that allow the animation of objects and / or characters that he creates. These two aspects of the job are inseparable, and an exacerbated creativity cannot compensate for a lack in this mastery of tools and vice versa.
The creativity or artistic sense of the 3D animator must be complemented by a solid artistic background. Candidates for this profession must have a great sense of detail but also a perfect knowledge of anatomy. Animating an object or a character, for example, must be accompanied by the ability to convey emotions through these animations. Curious, the 3D animator must keep up to date with the latest trends, the most recent technological innovations, but also (and above all) the evolution of consumer tastes.
Finally, if the 3D animator must be able to work alone, in front of his screen or his tablet for long hours, he must also be able to work in a team. Most often, the 3D animator will work after the 3D modeler has finished his work and will entrust the results of his work to the colorist, who will be in charge of fine-tuning it and giving it substance. A solitary worker for a team effort, this is a double constraint for the 3D animator.
This professional in image animation must also have a great sense of listening, since he or she will be in constant contact with the art director, the technical services of pre or post-production, and also with numerous artists.
