 Best John Lewis TV deals

Sony XR-55A80J (typical price, £1,299)

Sony XR-55A80J

We like: You can easily add a sound bar through the HDMI eARC input.

We didn’t like: Colours and contrast at lower resolutions could be better

John Lewis is offering this 55-inch 4K OLED in its clearance sale. It has four HDMI inputs, three USB ports and Freeview and satellite tuners.

This Sony model is powered by the Google TV operating system, meaning you can pick which streaming apps and TV channels appear on your home screen. Google Assistant is the go-to voice control and you can control several aspects of the TV through the microphone in the remote.

Best John Lewis laptop deals

Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 13.5" (typical price, £1,299)

Microsoft Surface Laptop 4
  • 13.5-inch screen
  • 8GB Ram
  • 256GB storage

We like: Impressive speakers

We don't like: Poor webcam and not enough ports

We found the Microsoft Surface 4 to be extremely portable, with its thin case and light weight of 1.27Kg. It features Microsoft's facial recognition system for a speedy extra layer of security.

While we thought the speakers were very good, the screen was quite reflective. Plus this laptop lacks ports compared to its competitors - you only get a USB-C, headphone jack and a magnetic Surface Connect port. You can buy a dock that adds extra ports and connects to the Surface Connect port, and still lets you charge.

Buy it for £889 from John Lewis.

Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Chromebook (82KN0005UK), typical price £250

undefined
  • Octa-core MediaTek processor
  • 4GB Ram
  • 64GB SSD

We like: Portable

We don't like: Connections are cramped and limited

With its 14-inch screen, this is a good one to consider if you need a laptop you can carry around with you. It’s relatively compact and only weighs 1.29kg, meaning that it’s never going to feel like a burden.

It's not particularly powerful, but as it's a Chromebook this isn't so much of an issue - it's fine for the basics.

Best headphones deal

Sony WF-C500 (typical price, £59)

WF-C500

We like: Comfortable, easy to use app

We don’t like: Phone call quality isn't great

These truly wireless headphones are compatible with gadgets running Apple iOS and Android. They are rated IPX4, which means they’re water resistant, but you shouldn’t get them drenched as the case isn’t water resistant.

They come with three pairs of eartips in different sizes to suit your ear size.

Best John Lewis microwave deals

John Lewis JLSMWO09 (typical price, £135)

John Lewis JLSMWO09

We like: Good variety of functions and automatic programs

We don't like: Actually setting said programs can be difficult

Operable with a dial and buttons, this 25-litre microwave is usually on the pricey side when compared to similar products.

It can cook food quickly at power levels up to 900 watts, with 10 settings at various wattages.

To see what we thought about this microwave, you can read our full JLSMWO09 review.

Lavazza A Modo Mio Voicy (typical price, £249)

Lavazza A Modo Mio Voicy

We like: Connects with Alexa, can connect with Lavazza app to personalise coffee

We don't like: Pods are more expensive compared to beans or ground coffee

The Lavazza A Modo Mio Voicy pod coffee machine is the first espresso machine with built-in Alexa technology, enabling you to make coffee by voice command.

You can also use the Lavazza app to adapt the temperature and size of your coffee to suit the preferences of different people.

Amazon currently is currently selling the Lavazza A Modo Mio Voicy for £110, the lowest price we've seen it on Amazon before.

Best John Lewis mattress deal

John Lewis Classic Waitrose Wool Pillow Top 1400 (typical price £1,049)

John Lewis Classic Waitrose Wool Pillow Top 1400

Type: Pocket sprung

We like: 60-night comfort trial, easy to rotate

We don't like: It's very deep, which makes it tricky to stretch a fitted sheet over it

This John Lewis own-brand mattress is reduced to clear, with the current price of £799 (down from £1,049) the cheapest we've seen it on offer. It's covered by John Lewis and Partners’ 60-night comfort trial, where you can exchange it for another mattress from John Lewis within 60 days if you’re not happy with it. However, you do have to purchase and use a mattress protector from John Lewis at the same time for hygiene reasons, and this is non-refundable.

The Classic Waitrose Wool Pillow Top mattress has a 19cm-deep layer of pocket springs, topped with padding and a natural wool layer designed to help keep you cool at night, although we found that it felt fairly warm to sleep on. John Lewis have it listed as a medium to firm mattress, but in our tests it measured a 6.6 on the mattress firmness scale (where one is firm and 10 is soft), so it’s actually towards the softer end of the scale.

We've tested the Classic Waitrose Wool Pillow Top 1400 to see how it rated in things like comfort, breathability and durability. Read our review to see what we found.
