Models tested in November 2023.
Cheapest Cybex car seat - Cybex Solution B-Fix, £100
The cheapest Cybex car seat we've tested is the Cybex Solution B-Fix. This is a group 2/3 high-back booster seat that was launched in 2019.
You can install it in your car (and secure your child) using the vehicle's three-point seatbelt, but it also has Isofix connectors that click into the Isofix points in your vehicle. These provide a bit more lateral stability, and stop the seat moving around if you're driving but don't have a child strapped into the seat.
Most popular Cybex car seat - Cybex Solution G i-Fix, £146
The most popular Cybex car seat on the Which? website is the Cybex Solution G i-Fix.
Installed using the vehicle seatbelt and Isofix connectors (if your car has them), the Cybex Solution G i-Fix is approved for children measuring 100-150cm tall, which is age four to 12 years.
Cybex i-Size baby car seats
Most of the baby car seats we've tested are approved to the newer R129 regulations, and so are classified as i-Size baby car seats.
Aton B i-Size + Base M, £250
This i-Size infant car seat was released a while ago, but is still available to buy. The newer B2 car seat is the next-generation seat (see below). However, both are approved for babies measuring 45-87cm, which is birth to around 15 months.
The Cybex B i-Size has 11 headrest positions and can be used as part of a travel system with pushchairs from Cybex and GB.
Aton B2 i-Size + Base One, £175
Similar to the Aton B, this model has been tested with a different base and is the newer version of the Aton B range.
It's installed via a base but you can also strap it in using the vehicle's three-point seatbelt. The seat has a sun canopy which the manufacturer claims provides UPF50+ protection.
Aton M i-Size + Base M, £260
This Cybex infant carrier is approved for babies from 45-87cm (birth to 15 months).
It's installed into your car via an Isofix base or the vehicle's seatbelt, and the seat has a three-point harness to secure your child.
Cloud T i-Size + Base T, £429
Newly released this year, the Cybex Cloud T is an infant carrier approved for use from birth up to around 15-18 months old (87cm).
We've tested it with the Cybex Base T, a rotating Isofix base that lets you turn the seat towards you. This makes it easier to click the seat on or off the base and get your child out of the car without straining your back.
Cloud Z i-Size + Base Z, £379
The Cloud Z i-Size was launched in 2018 and is the first generation of Cybex 'Z' car seats. The Base Z has the option to swivel the car seat 180 degrees to make it easier to get your car seat clicked into the base.
Cloud Z2 i-Size + Base Z2, £460
The follow-up model to the Cloud Z, this car seat is similar. The base can swivel 180 degrees, so you can turn it towards you to get the infant carrier clicked in, or have it forward-facing so you can attach a toddler car seat.
Keep your costs down and kids happy –Cybex group 0+ car seats
Aton 5 + Aton base 2-Fix, £225
This car seat has been around for years; it was first launched in 2016. While it's not widely available, you may still spot it on sale at some retailers. It's approved to the older (yet still legal) R44 regulations and is suitable for babies weighing up to 13kg, which is around 15 months.
Cybex i-Size baby to toddler car seats
Some car seats are classed as 'baby-to-toddler' seats, while others are 'toddler-to-child' seats. This will depend on the starting height or weight suitability of the seat.
If the seat can be used from birth or three months to around four years old, it's a baby-to-toddler seat. If it's approved from around a year, we call it a toddler-to-child seat.
Sirona SX2 i-Size, £320
This is an extended rearward-facing car seat approved for use with children measuring 61-105cm, which is around three months to four years old.
The seat can rotate 360 degrees on the Isofix base, so you can turn it forward-facing from 15 months (76cm), but we recommend keeping your child rearward-facing for as long as possible as it's safer.
Sirona T i-Size + Base T, £480
Launched in 2023, the Sirona T is a reversible child car seat that’s approved for children from birth up to 105cm in height (around four years old). Once again, it's extended rearward-facing and can be rotated on the base.
Sirona Z2 i-Size + Base Z2, £560
This baby-to-toddler car seat can detach from the base Z2, which is also compatible with the Cybex Cloud Z2 infant carrier. This means it's a modular system, and can help you save money as you won't need to buy a second base when you move from the baby car seat to the toddler model.
The Sirona Z2 has a height-adjustable headrest, integrated side-impact protection, a removable newborn-inlay cushion and a magnetic belt holder to keep the harness straps out of the way when putting your child in the seat.
Pallas G i-Size, £220
This car seat is approved for children measuring 76-150cm tall, which is around 15 months to 12 years. This is an older range than the models above, and so it's considered a toddler-to-child seat.
It uses an impact shield rather than a harness for children up to 105cm tall. Once your child is over this height limit, you can strap them into the seat using the vehicle's seatbelt. Some children don't get on well with impact shields, so it's a good idea to try the seat in a shop and take your child with you to make sure they're happy when strapped in.
Cybex i-Size child car seats
When talking about 'i-Size child car seats' as an age group or stage of car seats, we mean seats suitable from when your child measures around 100cm in height (four years old). For older seats, approved to R44 regulations, this means group 2/3 seats.
Solution S i-Fix, £170
First released in 2020, the S i-Fix is a high-back booster seat which you can install with the car's seatbelt. It also has integrated Isofix points for added stability in suitable cars.
It's approved for use with children measuring 100-150cm tall, which is around four to 12 years old.
It has a 12-position headrest that can also recline, so if your child falls asleep, their head won't flop too far forward.
Solution T i-Fix, £175
This child car seat is approved for children measuring 100-150cm tall, which is around age four to 12 years.
It's available in a range of colours including black, grey, blue, white, pink and beige.
Solution Z i-Fix, £210
This is the oldest seat from the Solution range, launched in 2019. Like the others, it offers the same adjustable 12-position headrest and Isofix installation.
Cybex group 2/3 car seats
Solution M-Fix SL, £115
This is a group 2/3 high-back booster seat. That means it's approved to the older R44 regulations rather than newer R129 regulations, but it's still a very popular car seat and the second most-viewed Cybex car seat review on the Which? website.
You can use it with a child weighing between 15kg and 36kg, which is around four to 12 years old.
Cybex multi-group car seats
For car seats approved to R129 regulations, these are often classified as i-Size baby-to-child seats. For older car seats, they'd be classed as group 1/2/3 car seats. They cover a large age range, often from baby or toddlerhood right up until your child no longer needs to sit in a car seat.
Anoris T i-Size, £520
The Cybex Anoris T i-Size is a unique child car seat because it has an airbag stored in the impact shield, which is designed to protect your child in the event of a crash. It's also the most popular multi-group Cybex car seat on the Which? website.
It's approved for children measuring 76-115cm tall, which is approximately 12 months to six years. However, as this is an R129-approved seat, we wouldn't recommend using the seat until your child is at least 15 months old (around 87cm tall), as it's forward-facing only.
Pallas B-Fix, £115
This is a group 1/2/3 child car seat that's approved for children weighing 9-36kg, which is around 12 months to 12 years old.
Like other Cybex Pallas seats, it uses an impact shield rather than an integrated harness to keep your child in place until they're big enough to be restrained using the vehicle's seatbelt.
Pallas M-Fix SL, £160
This is the third most popular Cybex car seat review, which is impressive as this group 1/2/3 car seat has been around since 2016.
When used as a group 1 toddler car seat, you use the impact shield and vehicle seatbelt to restrain your child. Then when using the seat as a group 2/3 high-back booster, you fit it using the vehicle's three-point seatbelt. However, it does also have Isofix points to provide more stability.
Pallas S-Fix, £215
This child car seat covers groups 1/2/3, which is for children aged between nine months and 12 years. It weighs 10kg, so you'll need to bear that in mind if you regularly need to move this seat between different cars.
It's installed using an impact shield (and the vehicle's seatbelt) for younger children, or with the vehicle's seatbelt and Isofix connectors for those using it as a group 2/3 seat. The headrest has three adjustable positions and can recline.
Pallas 2-Fix, £216
Incredibly, the 2-Fix was launched in 2011, but it's still available to buy from some retailers (including Amazon). It's a group 1/2/3 child car seat, which means it's approved to the older R44 regulations (which are still legal but running alongside the newer R129 regulations).
You can use it with children weighing 9-36kg, which is around nine months to 12 years, and it's forward-facing only. We'd always recommend keeping your child in a rearward-facing car seat for as long as possible, as it's the safest way to travel for children under four.
