Supermarket Christmas delivery slots are opening - when can you book yours?

Ocado has begun offering select customers early access to book their Christmas grocery deliveries, with other supermarkets expected to follow suit soon.

Access to Ocado's highly sought-after December slots is staggered, with Smart Pass members only able to book after receiving an invitation email.

Here, we reveal how to book your Christmas food delivery and when other supermarkets are likely to announce theirs.

Which Christmas delivery slots are available to book?

Ocado has kicked things off this year, but only for people with a Smart Pass (which is its paid-for delivery subscription).

Smart Pass customers will get an email or SMS the day before they can book their Christmas delivery. Some customers have been emailed to say they can book from today (24 September).

Delivery slots booked for 20-24 December will have a minimum spend of £90.

Customers without a Smart Pass will have to wait for Ocado's general release, but slots sell out extremely quickly so you'll have to act fast if you want to snap one up.

Smart pass members who signed up after 2009 usually have to pay for Christmas deliveries from 20-24 December. However, anytime Smart Pass customers can get a free delivery voucher. To qualify, you need to sign up via the email you receive by 30 November to get a voucher that entitles you to up to £9.99 delivery charges.

What about other supermarkets?

No other supermarkets have opened their Christmas delivery slots yet, but we’ll update this page as soon as that changes.

Should you pay for a delivery pass?

If you regularly have your groceries delivered, it can work out cheaper to buy a delivery pass than to pay for deliveries each time you shop.

These passes often give you priority booking for Christmas delivery slots.
