Most popular Android smartwatches

The best Android smartwatches can do everything from monitoring your heartrate and keeping track of your steps to receiving calls and messages.

For Android mobile phone users, an Android smartwatch is often the best option for getting the most out of your wearable as Apple watches aren't always fully compatible with Android devices - and vice versa.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6

We like:We don't like:

The successor to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5. The Watch 6 is available in 40mm and 44mm case sizes. Its sister release - the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic - is a bit bigger with a slightly different design.

We tested the watch with a silicone strap, but there are loads of options to choose from, including fabric and leather.

It has near-field communication (NFC), so you can make purchases using Samsung Pay. The app is compatible only with devices running Android - this means you can’t install it on iOS (Apple) devices.

Amazfit Active

We like: We don't like:

A smartwatch from Amazfit with a sporty look. It doesn’t look unlike an Apple Watch with its 1.75-inch square screen.

It’s mostly made from plastic with a metallic frame around the screen, but it does feel like good quality, and it comes with a silicone strap and is available in black, purple or pink.

Garmin Fenix 8

We like: We don't like:

An adventure smartwatch with premium features built to endure rugged conditions – and one of the most expensive models we’ve tested. It comes with a round, colour AMOLED 47mm display and a silicone strap. There are several different colours to choose from including orange, yellow, black and white.

There are five control buttons on the side of the watch face and a built-in microphone and speaker. It comes with a generous 32GB of storage and has a 40-metre dive rating for scuba and freediving.

Google Pixel Watch 3 45mm

We like: We don't like:

Google’s third Pixel smartwatch.

Its round display has an AMOLED colour touchscreen with 456 x 456-pixel resolution, which is higher than on its predecessor. The display is available in two sizes, 41mm or 45mm, and we’ve reviewed the latter here.

With 5 ATM water resistance, it can be used in shallow water, but it’s worth knowing that the resistance can depreciate over time.

It comes with a silicone strap, which is the one we tested. You can buy a fabric or leather strap separately, but these aren’t water resistant.

It’s only compatible with Android phones and can’t be connected to an Apple iPhone.

Samsung Galaxy Watch FE

We like: We don't like:

It’s the entry-level model in Samsung’s 2024 range of smartwatches. In terms of functionality, it’s very similar to the more expensive Galaxy Watch 7, but has an older processor, smaller battery and lower-resolution screen.

The Watch FE is available in a 40mm case size (compared to the twin 40mm and 44mm sizes available with the Watch 7) and in black, blue, or silver. You can choose from many different strap options, including fabric and leather materials.

This watch has built-in GPS and is compliant with MIL-STD-810H certification, which means it’s designed to withstand harsher conditions. These include higher altitudes, high and low temperatures, freezing conditions, shock, and immersion.
