Having important files be deleted whether it be accidental deletion or a power outage is can be one of the scariest feelings. The EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard has been regarded as one of the best data recovery software programs around, packaging advanced features into one simple, easy-to-use tool. In this review, we put the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro to the test to see if it really is the best option on the market.
Options For Everyone With The Free, Pro, & Technician Plans
EaseUS offers three different plans for both Windows and Mac users. The plans range from the entry-level EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free all the way up to the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Technician.
For users needing to recover a few files here and there, the free plan is the best option. With this plan, you can recover up to 2GB of lost files for free. It shares many features with the Pro and Technician plans but lacks some of the more advanced features.
If you need to recover data in excess of 2GB on only one system, the Pro plan is the best all-around plan building on the Free plan with a wider selection of advanced features. The pricing for the Windows Pro plan is $69.95 per month, $99.95 per year, or $149.95 lifetime. The Mac Pro plans are $20 more expensive than the Windows Pro plans at $89.95 per month, $119.95 per year, or $169.95 lifetime.
The Pro plan works for most people, but if you need to recover data on multiple systems including multiple servers, the Technician plan is the plan you need. The Technician plan allows for a single license key to be used on multiple systems. The pricing for the Technician plan is $299.00 per year, $399.00 per 2 years, or $499.00 lifetime.
A Wide Variety Of Advanced Features In A Simple Package
The EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro software has distinguished itself by having some of the most advanced features. Even with these advanced features, it manages to make recovering lost data a simple and quick process.
The EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro allows you to recover files that are accidentally deleted, lost due to partitioning, lost to a virus attack, and more. On top of that, hard drives that become RAW can also be recovered effectively.
It comes with the quick scan that searches for deleted data using a basic algorithm for quick results and the advanced scan that scans the storage device sector by sector for further recovery results. During the scans, users can preview files they found using tags as well as the filters to check for corruption and even recover them during the scan.
While some recovery software may not cover the majority of file types, the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro covers almost all possible file types. Users can have peace of mind that their data will be recovered no matter the file type.
The Mac Pro plans cost an extra $20 as it has to include features developed specifically for macOS. It can recover data from a Time Machin backup as well as recovering data from an iTunes backup. To separate the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard from other programs, even more, it is the only tool that can recover data encrypted by Apple's T2 Security Chip.
Recovering Your Lost Files With EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro
Recovering your data has been made quite simple with the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro. The features allow for easy sorting and quick recovery. For the data recovery process, I used my primary storage device, a 500GB SSD, and deleted some files to test the data recovery.
When you launch the program, it displays the locations where it can search for lost data. You select the location where you want to search for lost data, in this case, I selected Windows (c:) for the scan. As soon as you select the location, it immediately starts to find all the data on the drive.
During the scan, the program compiles the data into separate folders. It has the Deleted Files, Existing Files, and Other Lost Files folders. The existing files folder contains all the files currently accessible on your system. The deleted files contain the recovered files and the other lost files folder contains recovered files with missing names.
To assist in recovering deleted files, users can search for the file location or file name in the search bar. If a user finds the location, they can apply filters in order to find a specific deleted file. The options to filter are by file type, file size, and file time. In my case, I filtered by file type since I was looking for a PDF.
During the scan, the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard allows users to look through the files during both the quick and advanced scan. While the scan was occurring, I looked for the files I deleted and found them in the Recycle Bin.
On top of being able to search for files during the scan, users can continue to preview the file in order to ensure the files aren't corrupted. In my case, I found the PDF I was looking for and previewed it during the scan.
After previewing a file and making sure it isn't damaged, the user can also recover the deleted file during the scan. I was able to recover the PDF and then put it in a folder on my computer. The process overall isn't too complicated and is quite quick.
How Does It Perform?
The speed at which the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard was able to locate files was extremely impressive. The initial quick scan was able to find and sort over 800,000 files and recover over 60,000 deleted files in under 1 minute. The longer, advanced scan, took a little more than an hour and was able to recover another 40,000 deleted files, leaving me with a total of over 104,000 recovered files. It also did not have any issue with any file types which support EaseUS' claims.
The software ran on a Windows PC with a 500GB SSD and 16GB of RAM. At the peak of the data recovery process, it used around 30% of the CPU and 1GB of RAM. The program is not resource-intensive and can be run alongside other software. The relatively fast scan time also means that the program won't be running for too long either.
The Last Resort: Conclusion & Final Verdict
If you ever delete an important file or an accident happens, causing you to lose all your data, the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard is there to save your data in a flash. The EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard works is simple to use and is extremely quick at recovering data. It may be a little costly, but the advanced features and quick data recovery will certainly make it a lifesaver for some people.
